Professor Huang Huang, from the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, is one of China’s foremost experts in the use of formulas from Shang Han Lun and Jin Gui Yao Lue in the treatment of difficult-to-treat disease. In 1989 he was sent by the Chinese Government Education Committee to spend one year researching geriatric medicine at the Japanese Jing Du University. In 2001 he was awarded a Ph.D for his research in traditional medicine and its applications. Professor Huang dedicates his lifelong study to differential diagnosis of herbal patterns. His book Zhong Jing’s Fifty Herbal Patterns is the product of his research. The application of Fang Zheng or Formula Patterns helps to unlock the secrets of Jing Fang.
